QUICKSCREW Installation

QuickScrew Hanger Installation Information:

Quick Screw Gutter Hanger Specific:

  • Use a 1/4 Hex Bit, set your driver for torque(not speed) with a medium torque setting, adjust torque accordingly depending on your fascia material and penetration. Because the screws that come with Quick screw hangers grip so well, you should never need to set your drill torque at full drive(no breakaway) unless your batteries are getting low.

  • Ideally you should space at least every 24 inches, if your region does not routinely have snow, ice, or high wind conditions you may be able to get away using less hangers. Whenever possible, screw into the fascia so that the screw will penetrate a rafter tail.

How to calculate how many gutter hangers you will you need:

Based on the recommended 24" spacing you will need 1 hanger for every 2 feet of your gutter run, and for extra strength also put hangers at the end of runs, so calculation is as follows:

[Total feet of gutter divided by 2] + [Number of gutter runs x 2] = Total hangers needed

Whatever type of hanger you use:

  • Install your gutters so that water will flow into the gutter and not behind the gutter.

  • If the top of gutter is below the bottom of the drip edge, bridge the gap between them with an apron by tucking strip flashing under the drip edge and over the top of the gutters backside.

  • Pitch your gutters for good flow while keeping good appearance, If the gutter sits high under the drip edge, it may be necessary to notch the drip edge and apron(if used) where needed in the high areas for hanger clearance.

  • If retrofitting, it may be necessary to slightly bend the gutter outwards to install the outer clip and drop the back of the hanger under the shingle edge, the back clip does not have to go over the top of the back of the gutter. If the shingle edge sticks out too proud, it may be necessary to remove gutter or gutter end caps and slide the hangers to the mounting positions.

Note Regarding Mounting surfaces:

  • If you have angled fascia boards and would prefer your gutter to be level and not the same pitch as your roof, use a wedge (sold separately).

  • A strap (sold separately )can be used when no fascia board is present. Genuine QuickScrew gutter hangers are slotted to accept standard straps.
